The world needs 660,000 new pilots. Who is going to train them?

Third-party research on worldwide flight training demand and capacity. Boeing forecasts 660,000 new pilots by 2044, with Eurasia needing 550,000 aviation personnel, North America 435,000 and South Asia 141,000. The FAA counted 887,519 active US pilots and 370,286 student certificates at the end of 2025. ICAO Annex 19 requires a safety management system, EASA approves training organisations under Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011, and India's 41 DGCA-approved FTOs can hold roughly 3,500 students at once.
